南禅寺は、臨済宗南禅寺派大本山の寺院で、禅寺の中で最も高い格式をもつ寺であります。日本三大門の一つに数えられる重厚な三門を桜が華やかに彩り、楼上からは色付いた境内の春景色が一望できます。
また、南禅寺周辺には、約90本のソメイヨシノが咲くインクライン、約450本の桜並木哲学の道、十石舟から花見できる岡崎疏水、紅枝垂桜が見事な平安神宮など桜の名所が多く、春の京都を満喫するには十分なエリアです。

Nanzenji Temple is the head temple of the Nanzenji School of Rinzai Zen Buddhism, and is the most prestigious of all Zen temples. The massive Sanmon Gate, one of the three main gates in Japan, is decorated with cherry blossoms, and from the top of the gate, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the colored spring scenery of the temple grounds.
The area around Nanzenji Temple is also famous for its cherry blossoms, including the Incline with about 90 Someiyoshino cherry trees, the Philosopher’s Path with about 450 cherry trees, Okazaki Sosui where you can view cherry blossoms from a ten-stone boat, and Heian Shrine with its magnificent red weeping cherry trees, making it a perfect area to enjoy Kyoto in spring.
