伏見稲荷大社は京都市の南部に位置し、京都駅から電車で５分です。農耕の神様、殖産興業の神様として庶民の信仰を集め、全国に30000あると言われる稲荷神社の総本宮だそうです。７１１年２月に稲荷大神様が稲荷山に祀られ、以来1300年の歴史を有します。朱塗りの鳥居が連なる「千本鳥居」が有名で、実際には約１万基が参道に並んでいます。願い事が「通る」ようにお願い、または「通った」お礼として鳥居を立てることが、江戸時代以降に広まったそうです。稲荷山を含む境内は広く、全体を訪れるには１〜２時間を要しますので、水分を持参し、スニーカーで歩くことをお勧めします。

Fushimi Inari Shrine is located in the southern part of Kyoto City. It takes about 5 minutes by train from Kyoto Station. Fushimi Inari Shrine is the head shrine of all Inari shrines in Japan. There are about 30,000 Inari shrines nationwide. Inari Shrine is popular among common folks as a god of good harvest. Inari Okami was enshrined on Mt. Inari in AD711. So, Fushimi Inari Shrine has a history of 1300 years. There are almost 10,000 vividly vermilion torii gates and it form tunnel known as “Senbon torii”. Since the Edo period, the torii was built by the dedication of worshipers because it was said that the wish would come true if the torii gate was dedicated. The precincts including Mt. Inari are vast, therefore it takes one to two hours to visit the whole. We recommend you to bring water and walk in sneakers.
