Hasedera Temple is located in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture. It has been known as “Hase Kannon” since ancient times. The principal image is the eleven-sided Kannon statue, which is one of the largest wooden Buddha statues in Japan. It is the fourth temple of the 33 sacred places of the Kannon Sacred Shrine in Bando.
According to temple legend, the temple was founded in 736 by Tokudo, the founder of Hase-ji Temple in Nara, with a statue of the eleven-faced Kannon as its principal image. It is one of the oldest temples in Kamakura and was designated as a place of imperial worship under the reign of Emperor Shomu. In 721 (5th year of Yoro), Tokudo made two eleven-faced Kannon statues from a large camphor tree he found in the mountains of Nara, one of which became the statue of Kannon at Hase-ji Temple in Nara, and the other one was washed into the sea after a prayer.
It is said that Hasedera was the place where the Kannon statue that arrived on the Miura Peninsula was placed and opened in Kamakura 15 years later.
Hasedera Temple has been patronized by successive rulers such as Ashikaga Takauji, Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, and Tokugawa Ieyasu. The main temple buildings, including Kannon-do, are built on a hillside overlooking the sea. The temple grounds are abundant with flowers throughout the four seasons, and in particular, the grounds, decorated with 2,500 hydrangea plants of 40 varieties, are one of the most scenic spots in Kamakura. Many visitors come to the shrine during the rainy season to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

I have been there in year 2019. Had taken so many pictures. I think that going there in the morning is better for shooting. 🙇
It’s best to shoot temples and shrines in the morning. But I’m not good at getting up early … 😅
@channel WASABI|和作美 I hope that can go there again in next year. ❤️
I will make a plan! 😅
